Detention Standards Being Revised

The Indiana Department of Correction is charged with maintaining the standards for the private and public juvenile detention centers across Indiana.  Currently, there is a group of stakeholders meeting to revise the standards, taking into account the recommended changes by the American Correctional Association (  The Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative ( are also being considered, as JDAI slowly spreads across the state. Once the changes are adopted by the group, they will go through the normal rule-making process, hopefully starting this summer.
