Detention Standards Being Revised

The Indiana Department of Correction is charged with maintaining the standards for the private and public juvenile detention centers across Indiana.  Currently, there is a group of stakeholders meeting to revise the standards, taking into account the recommended changes by the American Correctional Association (www.aca.org).  The Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (www.aecf.org) are also being considered, as JDAI slowly spreads across the state. Once the changes are adopted by the group, they will go through the normal rule-making process, hopefully starting this summer.
