The Friday Wrap-up

Another Friday rolls around.  Time to clean off the desk of this and that.

On April 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. EST, the National Juvenile Justice Network will be hosting a webinar, Doing it Right:  Risk Assessment in Juvenile Justice.  The presenter will be Dr. Gina M. Vincent, the lead author of Risk Assessment in Juvenile Justice:  A Guidebook for Implementation.  An basic overview of Indiana’s risk assessment tools is available here.

On July 12-13, 2013, the American Bar Association will be hosting the 15th National Conference on Children in the Law in Washington, D.C.  Registration information is available here.

Compassion fatigue, also called vicarious trauma, is a focus of many seminars aimed at attorneys and probation officers involved in the juvenile court system.  A self-assessment of your risk is available here.  Online resources include, Compassion Fatigue Awareness Project, and this American Bar Association website, plus many others.

On April 12, 2013, the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, which coordinates all federal juvenile delinquency prevention programs in the federal government, will meet to discuss implementation of recommendations contained in the Report of the Attorney General’s National Task Force on Children Exposed to Violence.
