The National Juvenile Justice Network published Funding Community Based Supervision: Legislative Levers to Lock in Local Funding, which offers ideas for redirecting funding to local communities as the juvenile detention alternatives initiative (JDAI) rolls across the state and less children are detained and made wards of the Indiana Department of Correction.
Tamar Birkhead authored When Police Question Young Suspects on Prawfsblawg, which speaks about Miranda warnings that are more developmentally appropriate. The question about appropriate language was addressed to some extent in D.M. v. State in 2011, and a new waiver of rights form was formulated and recommended by the Indiana Judicial Center for law enforcement across the state.
