Resource for Deciphering IEP Information

IEP Resource is a useful website to get information about the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process in plain English, including the sections IEP 101 and The Dictionary.

A post, 5 Important Things to Look For in Your Child’s PLAAFPdiscusses the Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) that can be helpful for juvenile court participants and service providers to determine what type of teaching strategies work and do not work with the child.  Often services offered during a juvenile delinquency case can require providers to teach the child new ways to handle stress and anger, for instance.  Explaining to those providers what strategies are highlighted in the child’s IEP can be helpful to all involved.  This once again points out the importance of getting the IEP information as part of the predispositional process.
