Educational Benefits for Children of Wounded Veterans

As we celebrated Veterans’ Day, it is easy to forget the price that the family members pay for the veteran’s service to our country.  Indiana has a program to help the children of wounded or deceased veterans pursue higher education — a fee exemption for children of veterans, which is defined at I.C. 21-14-4.  The tuition and fees for a state institution would be waived, in whole or part, for eligible children.

Usually to be eligible, the child’s parent must have received a Purple Heart or suffered a service-connected disability or death, as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
