On this day, I would like to reach out with gratitude to all the juvenile justice practitioners and advocates who fight the good fight every day to ensure that the juvenile justice system is a place of rehabilitation and not retribution.
Thanks to those who rage for change and those who quietly hold the hands of those in need.
I am thankful beyond words to have met so many amazing people during this past year who shared their strength and wisdom.
A special word of thanks to the co-conspirators in my court for giving me the freedom to pursue my goals while making sure that I keep all of the balls in the air, and helping me pick up the pieces when one hits the ground.
Take a moment to remember the thousands of children across the country who are held in emergency shelters, detention centers, residential treatment facilities, and the Department of Correction, and will not be home for the holiday. They need our thoughts.
