What is Happening to the DCS Oversight Committee?

The Commission on Improving the Status of Children (“Commission)” absorbed the Child Services Oversight Committee (“Committee”) during the last legislative session in order to save the Committee from elimination when SEA 80 was passed.  I.C. 2-5-36.1, which defines the Committee, was repealed by SEA 80.

The Committee is now another task force of the Commission and should meet biannually, rather than quarterly, with a designated membership that remains the same as that set forth by statute when the Committee was established.  The Committee has yet to meet since the October 23, 2013 meeting.  No new meetings have been scheduled.

The next meeting of the Commission on Improving the Status of Children has been moved to May 21, 2014.
